Based on the popular Baader Moon&Skyglow filter the Baader Contrast-Booster takes contrast enhancement and skyglow reduction to the maximum level possible from a filter. Not only does this filter deliver a significant enhancement of planetary and lunar contrasts but it is designed to also totally eliminate the damaging blue defocused haze present in achromatic refractors. Gone are the annoying blue halo and obscuring haze that surround and smear resolution and contrast. Subtle contrasts and colors are boosted while displaying the full resolution your scope is capable of. The Contrast-Booster combines a special proprietary melt of Neodymium glass with a carefully designed 23 layer dielectric long-pass blocker on one face and a 7-layer ultra-low antireflection coating on the other face. By aggressively filtering out the defocused blue wavelengths a light yellow tint is imparted to objects (noticeably less than a typical yellow filter). The special coatings enable over 95% transmission across key portions of the visible spectrum. This results in a filter that retains the colors and color contrasts in tough subjects like Jupiter without excessive image dimming. Cloud bands retain their ruddy red hues but now become more striking in contrast. The Great Red Spot finally becomes easier. Planets and Lunarscapes are set against a jet black sky. The Contrast-Booster is a must for Solar observing (with Baader Astro Solar). As many users have found this is the ideal filter for Mars! The views of Mars with all telescopes (including reflectors and apochromats) benefit from the RGB filtration plus blue blocking. Combined with the Baader UV-IR-Cut Filter the Contrast-Booster makes the ideal filter set for digital imaging. Rather than add the cost of additional IR filtration (only needed for digital imaging) the Baader Contrast Booster has been optimized for visual use. You can do astrophotography with LX200 and RCX400 scopes in the standard altazimuth mode, but with longer exposure times, an effect called field rotation becomes evident. Stars at the edge of the field will appear as small concentric arcs or streaks on the film, rather than as star points. This effect, which does not relate to the accuracy of the telescope's computer or internal alignment, occurs on all altazimuth-mounted telescopes. It's simply a side effect of the altazimuth-type mount itself. Preventing Field Rotation: To prevent field rotation, your LX200 or RCX400 Model 07008 telescope can be polar-aligned with the wedge. The wedge allows you to align the telescope's axis of rotation with the Earth's rotational axis. This eliminates the effects of field rotation and gets the star streaks out.An alternative to using a wedge is employing the field de-rotater. The de-rotater allows you to stay in altazimuth mode and correct field rotation for longer-exposure astrophotography and CCD imaging. Introducing our SmartStar-E-R80 Entry Level telescope system. It's a hollow tube that allows you to attach a camera to your telescope with an eyepiece installed. By using the Deluxe Tele-Extender in combination with an eyepiece you can increase your telescope's effective focal length to well over 10000mm! And with this comes a corresponding increase in image size. It's a technique known as eyepiece projection photography and it multiplies magnification by the distance from eyepiece center to the film plane according to the following formula: Effective Focal Length = Telescope focal length ? Eyepiece focal length X DF (distance to film). The deluxe tele-extender is used for high-power lunar solar and planetary photography as well as for extreme terrestrial photography. To employ the tele-extender remove the diagonal from your telescope and insert an eyepiece directly into the visual back. Place the Tele-Extender over both the eyepiece and the visual back and attach your 35mm SLR camera to the back of the tele-extender using a T-ring. That puts you in business for fine highly magnified astrophotography! Note: The image you'll see through your camera's viewfinder will be upside-down. And because of the extremely high magnifying effect afforded by the deluxe tele-extended you'll want to take extra care to prevent camera and telescope vibration. Accurate polar alignment and using only under good seeing conditions will also help you capture high-quality images. The deluxe tele-extender is only for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes!
